Maddy noticed that her paper was so thick, the texture rubbings weren't showing up! Instead, she painted the textured leaved to make paint prints. Creative!
"Abstract vs. Representational"
Elise K (3Tr) - "I tried 3 different drawing utensils. I think crayon worked best because Oil pastels were to soft and colored pencils were to hard so you could not see the pig. On the crayon I also put some details like mud and an eye."

It looks like the leaf on the right was shaded with the pencil held on a low angle, and the leaf on the left looks like the pencil was straight up and down.
Isn't it amazing how such a small difference can make such a big difference?
